The 60 by 60 Project

So in my last post I mentioned the “60 by 60 project” so I thought I would write a little more about the project.

For sometime I have been counting how many countries I had visited and I was at 53 countries. I then set myself a little challenge to try to get to 60 countries visited by the time of my 60th birthday which is in April 2020, so only a few months left to squeeze in the remaining 7 countries.

7 isn’t many but still a bit of a challenge given the timescale involved.

The good thing is I now have a plan and hope to achieve the project. And since starting the project I have been to Slovakia and Slovenia which takes me to 55. And I am going to Lithuania in February and hope to get to Belarus while we are there.

That should take me to 57.

We then have a Caribbean Cruise booked for the end of March and will visit the Windward Islands which should take me to over 60 providing we stop at all the advertised ports.

So fingers crossed I will achieve the 60 by 60 Project.

Of course the big question is what comes after that?

For information I am using the 195 countries that make up the United Nations as the basis for my list and at some point I will write about ‘how many countries there are’ and what makes up the different lists but for now it’s the 195!

I always wonder how many people count countries (perhaps it should have a scientific name), so please let me know how many countries you have visited?
